Synopsis:
In Tracing Scars, the third book in the Kort Series, Brandy Hynes brings us back into the world of unforgettable characters and emotional tension. This time, the spotlight is on two people carrying deep pain and even deeper secrets. When their paths cross, what starts as reluctant connection slowly grows into something raw and real. But past wounds have a way of leaving a mark, and trusting each other might be the biggest risk of all.
My Thoughts:
I was excited to jump into this one since I’ve been following the Kort Series, and Tracing Scars absolutely delivered. This book hits hard emotionally, but it also has that quiet kind of hope that sneaks up on you.
The characters feel like real people dealing with real heartbreak. I loved how their connection wasn’t instant but built up slowly with tension and trust. There’s something so satisfying about watching two guarded people start to open up. It’s messy and honest, which made it even better.
And okay… let’s talk about Teddy Hamilton. His voice is literal perfection. I already liked the story, but having him narrate took it to another level. His delivery gave the male POV all the emotion it needed without ever going over the top. I could have listened to him read the grocery list and still been happy. Avery Caris held her own too, giving the female POV a grounded, emotional touch that really fit the character’s journey.
This book is filled with the kind of quiet ache that lingers, the kind that makes you pause and feel something deeper. If you’re into angsty romance with heart and healing, this one should be on your list.
The Vibes It Brings:
💔 Second Chances and Emotional Healing
🛑 Slow Burn with Serious Baggage
📖 Book 3 in a Deeply Connected Series
🎧 Top-Tier Audiobook Performance
🌪️ Inner Turmoil Meets Reluctant Love
🧩 Two Broken People Finding the Missing Pieces
🔥 Spice with Feelings (and a little sting)
Narration:
Teddy Hamilton is a standout in this one. His voice suits the male lead perfectly… deep, emotional, and just a little rough around the edges when it counts. I could honestly listen to him narrate all day. Avery Caris balances him out with a performance that feels honest and real. She brings out the vulnerable side of the character without losing any strength. Together, they nailed the vibe of this book and made the audio version a total win.
Final Thoughts:
Tracing Scars is a must-read (or must-listen) if you love emotional romance with depth. You don’t have to read the first two books to enjoy this one, but knowing the world makes it even more rewarding. With relatable characters, raw emotion, and top-tier narration, this book checks all the boxes for a gripping, heartfelt story. Thank you to Brandy Hynes and Valentine PR for an audiobook copy of Tracing Scars. The opinions stated here are all my own.
